Degrees to Crowley
In truth, we are all connected to anyone and everyone. On WikiTree, we can see our degrees to various people throughout history. If you are curious, you can check yours. Now, remember, degrees can be through marriage, so it is not necessarily a direct blood link. Either way, I thought it would be fun to see my degrees to Aleister Crowley.
My maiden name is Thompson and my mother, listed as private, is Eileen Mac Fee Thompson. She is deceased, so I can try to change it to public.

Of note, my last post was actually on Raymond Mac Fee’s father and his role in some lodge as a secretary. Other than that, my Mac Fee family is very conservative and they treat me like a black sheep. My only contact with them is a yearly Christmas card.
Anyway, my link is through Crowley’s daughter from her mother, Ninette (Augustine Ninette “Isabella” Fraux Shumway). Louise was born in Cefalu, Sicily, and her given name was Lulu Astarte Panthea. Her connection to Crowley was kept hidden for most of her life. Her legal name was Louise Shumway Muhler.
Louise’s picture is above. Her mother was Ninette - Augustine Ninette “Isabella” Fraux Shumway. Picture below was from a grave site linked to Ninette, but I don’t know if either image below is actually supposed to be her.
I remember reading the story about Ninette decades ago. She was the jealous lover of Crowley and ended up getting banished from the Abbey.
I remember not liking her very much after reading that, so I find it interesting that my connection by “degrees” is through her daughter. What that really means, I don’t know, but I will probably think about this for a while. Maybe I’ll write more about it later. I guess I’ll have to explore my thoughts. But I’ll let it sit for a while and see how I feel about it.
I always said to myself that any connection to Crowley or anyone doesn’t really mean anything. I still feel that way. It doesn’t make you special or give you any “powers.” Still, people continually claim that they are Crowley reincarnated or that they are related in some other way, and I’d roll my eyes. But, now, seeing my connection through someone I’m sure I never particularly liked amuses me. In the end, we are all connected to everyone in the world. We are separated by various degrees to those who we like and also to those who we don’t. When it comes down to it, it only matters how we treat the people in our lives. We learn to discover what we mean to each other. That’s all I can really say about this.
